BATABAIRE IN

Sunday
Niger v Uganda
Benin v Angola

CRANES stalwarts Timothy Batabaire, Denis Onyango and Geoffrey Sserunkuuma gave Bobby Williamson a degree of relief by joining the rest of the team yesterday.

The South Africa-based trio was thus the only arrivals, with the European-based Nestroy Kizito, Abubaker Tabula and Mike Serumaga expected today.

Tabula confirmed his arrival. “I should be in Kampala tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2pm. I would have come earlier had I been informed that there would be tickets in time,” the Sundsvall defender stated.

The arrivals will come as welcome news to Cranes boss Williamson, who had till now been reduced to using fringe players in camp.

By Tuesday, a couple of the team’s first team players were still stranded at their respective clubs in Europe, with their travel tickets yet to arrive.

Andrew Mwesigwa and Geoffrey Massa were quick-witted enough to finance their flights. But Europe-based stars Denis Obua, Kizito, Tabula and Sserumagga were still waiting for their return tickets. The team departs tomorrow.

Dhaira off to Turkey
URA FC goalkeeper Abbey Dhaira has left for trials today with Turkish club Fernabahce.
