SC Villa 3-2 Express
SC Villa settled their grievance with rivals Express FC yesterday following a 3-2 Idd El-Fitr Cup victory at Nakivubo Stadium.
Twelve days back, the Wankulukuku-based Express FC registered a controversial 2-1 win over Villa in the National Super League first round fixture and yesterday it was Villa’s pay back time. Andrew Nkurunungi gave Villa an early lead when he broke into Express’ shaky defense after only two minutes.
Captain Simon Masaba extended Villa’s lead five minutes later with a header inside the box off left-back Godfrey Walusimbi’s in-swing.
Diminutive winger Suleiman Jingo brought some joy to Express fans with a classic strike in the 20th minute, but Edirisa Sserwada tapped two minutes later to quickly cancel the jubilation and make it 3-1 at half time.
Newly signed Julius Ojwanga threatened Villa’s lead with a 90th minute strike but it was only final fanfare as the match ended 3-2.
