Former Cranes coach Laszlo Csaba has asked court to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the Federation of Uganda of Football Associations (Fufa) against him. Through their lawyers Muwema, Mugerwa and Co Advocates, Csaba argued that Fufa does not exist in law and therefore has no cause of action to sue him.
Csaba was responding to a civil suit filed by the federation against him demanding Shs324m in compensation for breach of contract after he quit the Cranes’ job in June. Fufa accused Csaba of terminating a four-year contract prematurely.
According to his defence filed on Tuesday at Kampala High Court, Csaba says that Fufa “failed to procure for him a work permit frustrating his employment.” The Hearts FC coach further blamed Fufa for failing to pay his salary on time and failure to give him a driver.
He also accused the federation of failure to pay school for his child, and refusal to provide treatment to his immediate family members and clear his utility bills. According to the contract signed on July 10, 2006, Csaba was supposed to pay US$200,000 (about Shs320m) if he did not complete the contract.
Fufa claim that since July 11 when Csaba terminated his contract, he has refused to pay the money as required. Fufa further claim they have suffered as a result of the loss of Csaba’s services. They want him to pay damages, interest, compensation and the costs of the suit.
